Final Animatic

Our final strategy plan to promote Branient, was to approach a well known and popular campaign or brand and suggest to them, that Branient could make them an interactive advert using their software for complete free, but in return Branient would be allowed to advertise themselves on the advert. So, using Red Bull as an example to pitch the idea, here is our final Red Bull Animatic Advert.

Compared to the first draft animatic, I kept the same style of basic line drawings but I added a little touch of colour just to spruce it up. I also made every drink in the store a Red Bull product to strengthen the promotion strategy. And to tailor it even more to the Red Bull product, each effect after drinking it turns the character into a different form of bull animal. I tried to keep it light and humorous in an attempt to keep the audience interested.

The final added idea to our pitch which would promote Branient is to have their logo on the side of the commercial  like a permanent fixture, this in itself would be a link, directing the audience to Branient's website.

On the whole our group was very proud of our presentation, however improvements I would make is we could have added some sound to spruce up the animatic. Although not necessary I think sound would have drawn in the audience's attention much more and even emphasise some of the humour.

We could also have incorporated Branient more intimately with animations, so rather than having just their logo layered over the animation we could have made Branient play a bigger roll such as the logo itself sprouting wings, or the combination of Red Bull and Branient would influence a "super effect" on the  character.

Initial Animatic

So here is my first animatic draft. I used a rough sketchy drawing style for a similar style as Red Bull's current animation adverts. I kept everything very simple with minimal colour and focused more on the storyline of the advert. There are buttons throughout the video which in the final product would be interactive letting the viewer control what happens next, so these animatics wouldn't actually be interactive, but more of illustrating the concept of the advert.

After reviewing the animatic with my group, we decided that maybe we should leave out the swearing, and instead of having other brands in the advert focus only on Red Bull. The timing of this video also needs to be improved slightly and we need to find a way of incorporating Branient more into video. Possibly having their logo somewhere.

Storyboard

So here are my initial storyboard for our Red Bull Advert. I decided to target students as I can relate to them myself. So using a typical scenario that happens to me a lot I incorporated this into the storyboard. It starts off with a student being exhausted from constantly working as deadlines are soon and they left most of the work til last minute.
And then options will pop up allowing the viewer to select the different options which leads them onto different clips. The viewer can control what happens next, basically controlling the advert. The idea is that the student will pop to the shops to find something to refresh themselves with, and at the shops they can select the different products and see how it'll affect them. But of course the effects of each drink wouldn't be real but for entertainment purposes.
And to follow Red Bull's already strong campaign, when selecting it the character would sprout wings. But to promote Red Bull more, it's effect would be the strongest and most interesting, so I'll make the other products have duller but still entertaining results.

Commercialising Ideas

To advertise and help promote Branient, my group have decided to use Red Bull as our campaign. So to start off, I began researching Red Bull, specifically what types of adverts they produce.

I've noticed these Red Bull adverts appeal to a much older audience with adult humour, as they would generally be the people drinking it. Also, even though they're targeting an older audience, I think the cartoon style animations works well as it adds to the humour and unrealistic nature of the adverts, since Red Bull doesn't actually give people wings.
